Latty Community Festival – July 26!

If you’ve ever visited, lived in, or driven past Latty, Ohio on State Route 613 or US 127, come and see what’s happening in this small but active community. The Fourth Community Festival on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at the Latty Town Hall and Park from 10:45 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., promises a day of fun and community spirit for all ages.  (There is no rain date.)  Focused on the Theme, “Bringing the community together by showing the Love of Christ,” the festival is organized by members of three local area churches: The Latty Apostolic Christian, Friends United Methodist, & Latty Zion Baptist.

The festival begins at 10:45 a.m. at the Latty Town Hall with a flag-raising ceremony by local Boy Scouts, singing of the national anthem, and a brief welcome from the churches.  Mayor Shawn Gerber will also update us on the Village Happenings.

Around 11:00 a.m. the festival will then move to the Latty Shelter House.  Everyone is asked to register and receive information about the day’s events. At that table, parents can pick up waiver liability forms and bracelets so youngsters can enjoy the Bounce House. PASSPORTS will also be issued for youth to travel down Education Road and pick up tokens and prizes along the way.

New this year will be a brief devotional opportunity and Honorary Citizen Ceremony at 11:15 a.m. at the Shelter House.

Following the theme of our festival, there will be a Hymn Sing (2) and a brief message.  Then recognition of our Honorary Citizens:  The Alvin and Mildred Phillips family. This family exemplified the symbol of Good Citizens by the way they demonstrated the importance of “faith, family and community” in their lives. Most notable of all was Mildred’s contribution to the love of her Latty Community by assisting with a history book researched and compiled by Dorothy Chester for the Latty Centennial Celebration in 1981. Black and white copies (from the original brown tone) of this collaboration will be available for purchase during the festival.

A free picnic lunch with drink and dessert will be provided by the church members at 11:45 a.m. Guests are asked to bring their lawn chairs. Handicap parking will be available as well as golf cart shuttles.

Starting at 12:00 Noon all ages will be able to travel down Education Road. Youth will be given a “Passport” for their trip. Each stop will have information and activities from local organizations available throughout the day, including Paulding County Amateur Radio Club, Reclaimed Living, Power 2 Change, Lifewise Academy, Paulding County Carnegie Library, Habitat for Humanity, Hands of Hope, YWCA Child Care Resource, Paulding Fire Truck, and Scott EMS.

After lunch there will be several special prizes awarded and Recognition for all of our community First Responders!

At 1:00 p.m. the Apostolic Choir will perform at the Shelter House. Following their performance there will be a variety of “mix” music for listening enjoyment and time to fellowship with old and new friends!

Other activities available throughout the afternoon will include Bible Bingo and Crafts; and of course, the Bounce House, Face Painting, Balloon Artist, and other Games.

Organizers hope the community comes out to enjoy the festivities, see old friends and make some new ones.  There will also be an opportunity to donate to the Latty Youth Foundation to support the upgrading and maintaining of the Latty Park!
