At its statewide conference and Awards Celebration, the Ohio Educational Library Media Association (OELMA), Ohio’s professional association for K-12 school librarians, will recognize the recipients of the 2025 READ On! Ohio Award for Children & Teens. The award celebrates enthusiastic readers nominated by school and public librarians in the following categories: primary (K-2); intermediate (3-5); middle (6-8); and high (9-12) and regions: SE, SW, NE, and NW. This year marks the eleventh year READ On Ohio has been awarded.
OELMA is pleased to announce that llah Zimmerman, a K-2 student at Paulding Elementary School, is a recipient of this award. In her nomination, Susan Deatrick stated:
Ilah is a delight to have in the library. She is an enthusiastic 2nd grader who has advanced her reading ability by reading books above her grade level. She also participates in the Winter and Summer Reading Programs. She attends many of the library programs that are offered through the year. Ilah likes to recommend books that she really likes, is quick to notice any changes, and is ready to volunteer her help, if needed. Ilah is a remarkable young lady, full of energy and loves to read.
Congratulations to Ilah and the Paulding County Carnegie Library community for cultivating a passion for reading in its students.
Ilah will be recognized at the 2025 OELMA Conference and Awards Ceremony, November 14-15, 2025 at OCLC, 6565 Kilgore Place, Dublin, OH. Details to follow.
