Good Samaritan School Awarded $5,000 Grant

The Defiance County Board of Developmental Disabilities and Good Samaritan School have received a $5,000 grant from the Defiance Area Foundation (DAF) as part of the foundation’s 2025 spring grant cycle. The funding comes from both the DAF Community Fund and the Hanna Family Memorial Fund.
The grant will be used to implement a range of important updates aimed at improving the school’s facilities and enhancing educational programming. A new public address system will strengthen school-wide communication, particularly in emergency situations. Additional security cameras will increase safety for students, staff, and visitors. The grant will also fund updated appliances—including two stoves, a washer, and a dryer—which will be used as part of the school’s life skills curriculum.
“These updates not only promote safety, but also support our students’ independence and real-world learning,” said Superintendent Heidi Hull.
The Defiance Area Foundation expressed pride in supporting an environment that is safe, supportive, and empowering for all students.
