GMC Dominates BBC in Annual Ryder Cup Golf Match

On July 31st, the Green Meadows Conference (GMC) turned in a commanding performance against the Buckeye Border Conference (BBC) in their annual Ryder Cup-style golf match, hosted at Pond-A-River Golf Course. The GMC claimed victory in dominant fashion, finishing with a final score of 16-4.

The invitational, which brings together top golfers from both conferences for an afternoon of competitive pair play, saw GMC golfers controlling the course from start to finish.

Dylan Hahn, Griffin Kosch, Zaine McMichael, Case Trabel, and Emerson Morrow

GMC secured wins in 16 of the 20 matches, showcasing strong teamwork and consistent play. Among the winning duos were Nolan Inkrott (Hicksville) and Owen Speiser (Fairview), who outplayed Zander Distel (Holgate) and Zachary Oehlers (Fayette), and Dillon Phipps (Ayersville) and Zach Barton (Paulding), who triumphed over Grady Beers (Fayette) and Tyce Fleurkens (Montpelier).

Other notable GMC victories included:

• Ian Cronin (Edgerton) and Graham Schlachter (Ayersville) defeating Andrew Batterson (Stryker) and Rowen Saneholtz (Montpelier)

• Case Trabel (Antwerp) and Luke Nelson (Hicksville) over Brenna Creighton (Stryker) and Joseph Ohlemacher (Fayette)

• Parker Hancock (Tinora) and Kolton Adams (Hicksville) besting Malachi Smeltzer (Montpelier) and Lakota Siegal (Hilltop)

• Dylan Hahn (Antwerp) and Griffin Williamson (Wayne Trace) prevailing over Carter Lavinder (Fayette) and Easton Fidler (North Central)

• Xavier Shininger (Tinora) and Timothy Font (Paulding) topping Bradley Williams (Stryker) and Kasen Saunders (Fayette)

Despite the overall loss, the BBC did manage to pick up four hard-fought victories. Owen Sommer (Montpelier) and Wyatt Meyer (Holgate) outlasted Zaine McMichael (Antwerp) and Kaiden Massengale (Tinora), while C.J. Fidler (Montpelier) and Talen Reinbolt (North Central) earned a win over Emerson Morrow (Antwerp) and Drew Ford (Fairview).

K Stewart (Montpelier) and Brennan Dempsey (Hilltop) added another BBC point by defeating Anthony Singer (Fairview) and Jon Cronin (Edgerton), and Nash Miller (Montpelier) with Zia Seigal (Hilltop) secured the final win over Max Williamson (Wayne Trace) and Corbin Wilson (Edgerton).

With strong showings across the board, the GMC golfers proved their depth and discipline, taking home this year’s bragging rights.
