Franklin Ray Pier

ANTWERP, OH:

Franklin Ray Pier, 89, of Antwerp, Ohio passed away Saturday, February 28th at Parkview Regional Medical Center. 

Ray was born on December 24, 1936 to Francis Howard and Virginia (Ladd) Pier. 

He was a 1954 graduate of Paulding High School. In 2000 he retired from General Portland/Lafarge where he worked for over 30 years. 

Ray will be sadly missed by his family. Surviving are his wife, Joan (DeMuth) Pier, whom he married in 1966, children: Scott (Stephanie) Pier, Jennifer (Fred) Langham, Steve (Jessica) Pier, Spence (Sandee) Pier, son-in-law, John Adams, 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. 

Ray is also survived by his 4 brothers, “Toot,” Roger, John, and David. 

He was preceded in death by sisters, Eileen and Jean, a beloved daughter, Cindy Rae Adams, 1 grandson, and 1 great granddaughter. 

Ray was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and the Green Bay Packers. He had many other interests including gardening, hunting, fishing, traveling, playing cards, and bee keeping, but most important of all was spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly. 

Ray loved Jehovah and regularly attended the Kingdom Hall in Antwerp. 

Visitation is Saturday, March 7th from 4-7 PM followed by a memorial service at 7 PM at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses or the American Cancer Society.
