Congratulations Are in Order

Congratulations to all students that entered the writing contest. I thought the entries did a very good job. I was pleasantly surprised at the maturity shown in the stories. Thanks to you teachers and your part helping the students, and especially the judges. You did a good job.
I have said before how fortunate you are in Ohio to have a small newspaper like West Bend News and smaller mostly rural schools. I feel schools in Allen County, Indiana have gotten too big, they lose some of the camaraderie. I have said before, find something you like, and there is a good chance you will excel at it. I was happy to see students profess their faith. I look forward to a revival headed by young people.
The Bible has a verse, “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers.” To the Girl on the basketball team, sports are a great way of learning teamwork. My daughter still holds the high school basketball scoring record for girls at Leo high School, and my son holds the scoring record for boys.
To the boy with the ringing testimony, it’s true we don’t change until we hit rock bottom and have nowhere to go. I would enjoy talking to some of you guys, you seem really neat kids. Boys, let’s start writing.
Our Minister Sunday spoke about Psalms 23. Verse 3 jumped out at me. “He restores my soul.” Google says we are made up of both physical and spiritual. I am older and need physical renewal. As an older person your body just seems to wear out. In heaven everything will be always new. A song by Jimmy Swaggart, “You can lay down your heavy load when you get home.”
Thanks West Bend for a job well done. You really pulled it off. You have a great team in your area and are making a great contribution to your community.
