The Defiance Area Foundation (DAF), through the Hanna Family Memorial Fund, has awarded a $2,500 grant to Children’s Lantern as part of its 2025 spring grant cycle. The funding will support a new initiative titled Kinship Lantern of Hope, designed to assist kinship families in Defiance County.

Kinship families are those where grandparents or relatives step in to raise children due to challenging circumstances. So far, the program has already served 71 children, with the goal of reaching 75 families through direct support.

Children’s Lantern leaders expressed gratitude for the support, noting the growing need in the community. DAF echoed that sentiment, stating they are proud to play a role in uplifting families who step in when it matters most.
