Joseph Sukup and Ellen Kucera were united in marriage on August 21, 1965, at Holy Rosary Church in Toledo.

They have three children: Steve (Chris) of Paulding; Kathy (Pete) Schlegel of Greenback, TN; and Joanne (Rodney) Mobley of Paulding. They are blessed with eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The Sukup family will honor this milestone with a family celebration.

Mr. and Mrs. Geoffrey L. Hyman recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Geoff and Bonnie (Phlipot) were married August 30, 1975 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Paulding, Ohio. They have 2 children: Julie Kershah, Upper Arlington, OH; and Michael Hyman, Fort Wayne, IN. They also have 3 grandchildren: Nicholas Kershah, Michelle Hyman, and Mateo Hyman.

Richard and Lorraine Dolinski of Antwerp, Ohio, built a life together rooted in love, commitment, and family. Their journey began on February 12, 1955, when they exchanged vows in Taylor, Michigan, in a ceremony officiated by Reverend Waggle.

Over the decades, their love story flourished as they raised three sons—Ray, Steve, and Paul. Their family has continued to grow, bringing them the joy of four grandchildren and, in time, ten great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.

Their story stands as a testament to the power of enduring love and the strength of family bonds that will continue for generations to come.

Ron & Karen (Hoffman) Cooper, Oakwood OH are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary this fall.  They were married at the Church of Christ, Leipsic, Ohio on October 10, 1959.  God blessed them with two daughters, Jill (Dan) Straley and Leslie (Steve) Heilshorn. They have three grandsons and one great granddaughter. 

Natalie Schultz and Trevor Speice are engaged to  be married on Saturday, August 17, 2024.

The bride elect is the daughter of Jeff and Christa Schultz, granddaughter of Terry Daniels and Mahlon and Rosa Tempel. Natalie is a graduate of Ohio State University and is currently attending Purdue University for her graduate program of Speech Language Pathology.

The bridegroom elect is the son of Mike and Kathy Speice, grandson of Linda Reno and Ray and Nancy Speice. Trevor is the owner and employed at Speice Barbershop, Paulding, OH.

The couple will marry at Barn on Nye Manor, Hicksville, OH.

Anthony (Tony) is the son of Ronald and Diana Smith, Gina (Santos) is the daughter of Amalia and the late Jose Santos.

The couple have one son, Anthony, and two daughters, Angelina (Nate) Gill and Kristina (Brendon) Bowlin. They also have nine grandchildren: Ethan, Blair, Liam, Anthony, Jensen, Nolan, Logan, Ezra and Jaxon, all of Antwerp. 

They are planning a celebration in May with family and friends.

People from all over the area descended to the outskirts of Sherwood at a beautiful tree-covered location called Crystal Fountain Park. Previously, it was owned by the Village of Sherwood, up until brothers, Luke and Levy Kuhn, made an investment to revitalize the area and save the historic land and structure, The Wentworth, from the fate of so many older buildings in the northwest Ohio communities. Not only is there an incredible history that surrounds this land, but the future has bright prospects with this family’s endeavor for a wedding, event center and open air venue! 

The community embraced the new business at the Ribbon Cutting that took place on Thursday evening, November 10. There was a large crowd in attendance with camera crews presenting the facility in an exquisite light on this cool autumn evening. People from all over Defiance, Paulding and other counties were in attendance to witness the excitement surrounding this new event center.

Following the ribbon cutting, the people were invited inside The Wentworth to see the changes made by the Kuhn family that weren’t visible from the front steps. The facility has been returned to much of it’s former glory with remodeling while keeping its character from the days of yore. There are many small pavilions in various locations on the grounds to give the magic location a bride may want for her and her husband’s most special day.

Samantha Kuhn stated that the excitement is spreading quickly and they are already booking events well into next year. “We have shown the campus now nearly every night this week!” 

Weddings can be indoors or outdoors. They might be in the evening along the softly lit trails in the woods, or maybe sit beautifully over the reflective waters by the new pond.

The fact is, Defiance County has stepped up the game with the new Crystal Fountain Park!

Larry and Shaaron Whitman, of Payne, recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. The couple were married on September 21st, 1958, at the United Methodist Church in Paulding. They celebrated their special anniversary day with their sons, daughter in laws, grandchildren and great grandchildren at a family gathering.

Mr. and Mrs. William Boylan of Antwerp will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this Friday.

Bill and Tylene were married June 30th, 1973 at Mount Pleasant Methodist Church in Butler by Rev. Jeff G. Snyder.

The Boylan’s are celebrated with love and admiration on this milestone occasion by their sons: Douglas (Andrea) of Fort Wayne, Gregg of Antwerp, and Steven (Rhonda) of Auburn, grandchildren and family. Bill is the son of the late Lavon & Ruth Ann Boylan and Tylene is the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Louis Mabis.

Nolan Richard Taylor and Joy Isabell Sanderson were wed May 29, 1948.  The two were Grover Hill high school sweethearts.  One evening after taking in a free movie show in Grover Hill, Richard was taking Joy home in his 1941 Black Ford.  It was in the car that evening that he asked Joy to marry him.  Of course, she said yes!  Who wouldn’t want to marry the most “good lookin’ fellow.”  According to Joy, Richard was “so very kind, considerate, and caring.”  Besides, he would bring Joy a BABY RUTH BAR to school, when he’d get off working at the diner during the lunch hour.  Richard thought that Joy was the most “beautiful, kind and generous girl.”  The couple lived in the Grover Hill area until 1988.  Now up to that point Richard was a farmer, construction worker, wood worker, school bus driver, and school board member for 12 years.  Joy enjoyed being a homemaker and seamstress.  Their only child, daughter, Tonya Joy Taylor came into the world on May 3, 1955.  

In 1988, the family moved to Florida.  Joy worked for Eckerd Drug Store and Richard was a tour bus driver.  While in Florida they took up square dancing, which they did for 10 years.  In 1995, it was time to say goodbye to Florida and move back to Ohio.  The couple then decided to build their own home with their own hands and so they did.  In 1995 they settled in Van Wert, Ohio, where they live to this day.

Richard and Joy’s 75 years are a testament to their love and devotion for one another and to the hope that they have in Christ Jesus.  All their nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews have reason to celebrate this wonderful couple.
