HAVILAND — A dominant offensive performance from Ayersville and a lights-out pitching display by Kendra Waldron led the Pilots to a 13-3 victory over Wayne Trace on Thursday, April 24, at Wayne Trace High School.

After a quiet first inning, Ayersville erupted for eight runs in the second, capitalizing on defensive miscues and timely hitting to take control early. Wayne Trace, plagued by eight errors on the night, struggled to find its footing as Ayersville added to its lead with runs in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings.

Waldron was unstoppable in the circle for the Pilots. The senior ace struck out 14 and allowed just four hits and no earned runs across seven innings. She also contributed at the plate with a run and an RBI. Daniella Coble fueled Ayersville’s attack, going 3-for-5 with two singles, a triple, two runs scored, and three RBIs. Ava Sigler added two doubles and scored twice, while Allison Eldridge tallied three hits and crossed the plate two times. Addison Zartman and Miki Shreve each notched two hits as Ayersville compiled 13 total on the night.

Wayne Trace’s offense showed flashes of promise, scoring one run in the third and two more in the fifth. Sam Williams delivered the biggest hit of the night for the Raiders, lacing a double and driving in two runs. Allison Noggle added a single and an RBI, while Addyson LaBounty and Olivia Zartman each chipped in a base hit.

Reagan McGarvey took the loss for Wayne Trace, going 4 1/3 innings while giving up nine runs—only two of which were earned—on 11 hits with five strikeouts. Brooke Tigner pitched the remaining 2 2/3 innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits and four walks.

With the win, Ayersville improves their momentum heading into the final stretch of the season, while Wayne Trace will look to bounce back and tighten up defensively in the games to come.
