‘Art in the Park’ Returns to the Fort Grounds June 29

The Friends of Defiance Public Library (DPL) will host the 43rd annual ‘Art in the Park’ event on June 29 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Fort Grounds and along Fort Street in Defiance.
This special one-day event draws visitors from around northwest Ohio, and includes dozens of artists and craft vendors, children’s activities, food and beverage vendors, live entertainment throughout the day, and more.
Young attendees will find plenty of fun in the circus-themed Children’s Tent on the north side of the library (facing the river).
Story time and kids crafting will take place intermittently throughout the event, and Justin the Clown will treat attendees to balloon animals and face-painting from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Live entertainment under the tent on the Fort Grounds will include music by Uncle Monty at 11 a.m., music by Paul Sulpizio at noon, music by Brad Burkhart at 1:00 p.m., a historical presentation by Taylor Moyer of Fort to Port Histories at 2:00 p.m., and the Rube Band at 3:00 p.m. will round out the day.
The Friends of DPL will also host a used book sale throughout the event, with many genres available for a freewill donation. Proceeds from the sale benefit Defiance Public Library.Food and drink options available for purchase at the event will include cheesecake from A Little Slice of Heaven, Bud’s pies, nachos served by the State Bank GIVES truck, Pink Penguin ice cream, a popcorn stand, bratwurst and hot dogs from the Rotary Club, Seasoned Mobile Grill, and a drinks tent. (Some vendors will accept cash only.)
Art in the Park is held in conjunction with RiverFest (June 28 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Pontiac Park) and Fort to Port Histories’ Living History Encampment (June 28 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and June 29 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Pontiac Park). Be advised, historical cannon-firing demonstrations will take place at the Encampment on June 29 at 12:00 Noon and 4:00 p.m.
