Archers Shine at Home Quad Meet; Sholl Breaks Record!

The Antwerp Archers track and field teams had a standout performance during their home quad meet on Thursday night, competing against Montpelier, Holgate, and Ottoville. The girls’ team claimed the top spot, while the boys finished a strong second. It was a night full of personal records and top-three finishes for both squads.
Girls Results:
Freshman Kora Zuber earned third place in both the 100m and 200m dashes. Sophomore Reese Durbin took first in the 800m, with Gabriella Snyder close behind in third. In the 3200m, juniors Leigha Doster and Taylor Stiebling took first and second respectively, showcasing Antwerp’s distance strength.
In the hurdles, junior Camryn McAlexander placed second in both the 100m and 300m events, followed by freshman Reese Franklin in third for each. The relay teams were dominant:
• The 4×100 team of Estee Lichty, Kora Zuber, Hudsyn Bagley, and Emily Laker captured first place.
• The 4×200 team of Estee Lichty, Kinzey Parrish, Elise Meyer, and Hudson Bagley also claimed victory.
• The 4×400 team (Estee Zuber, Hudson Bagley, Reese Durbin, Emily Laker) finished third.
• The 4×800 relay (Emily Laker, Reese Durbin, Gabriella Snyder, Leigha Doster) brought home another first-place win.
In field events, McAlexander added a third-place finish in the long jump. Freshman Elise Meyer took first in the pole vault.
Boys Results:
Senior Tavin Sholl had a record-setting night, breaking a 24-year-old school record in the 200m dash with a time of 23.25 seconds, surpassing Justin Wise’s 23.30 from 2001. Sholl also claimed first in the 100m and anchored the winning 4×400 relay.
Teammate and fellow senior Dayne Sholl placed second in the 100m and took first in the 400m. Senior Kayden Winslow dominated the mid-distance events, earning first in both the 800m and 1600m. Bryceton Barker followed in second in the 800m.
The 4×100 team (Braxton Peters, Kane Hines, Gage Clevinger, Nikalas Bradenburg) finished second. In the 4×400, the team of Tavin Sholl, Dayne Sholl, Kayden Winslow, and Kane Hines captured first. The 4×800 relay team of Gage Barker, Bryceton Barker, Camden Herber, and Tucker Doster finished second.
In the field events, sophomore Keegan Gray-Wyckoff swept both the shot put and discus, earning first place in each. Freshman Braxton Peters and sophomore Gage Clevinger tied for third in the pole vault. Nikalas Bradenburg added a second-place finish in the long jump.
The coaching staff extended thanks to all the parents, administrators, staff, and junior high athletes who helped make the meet a success.
