The Left Turn

By Ron Burt
Last Friday and Saturday, the All Star Circuit of Champions (410 winged sprint cars) series wrapped up their 2025 season at Fremont Speedway. The Annual Jim Ford Classic paid the winning 410 sprint driver $5,000.00 on Friday and $10,000.00 on Saturday. Drivers from as far away as California, Arizona and Texas showed up for the big payout.
On the first night the Fremont Trucks were the support class for the sprints. There were so many sprints, the Dirt Trucks didn’t run heat races, instead the Trucks ran two features. Oregon Ohio’s Craig Dippman won the first Truck feature followed by Shawn Valenti and Keith Sorg. The 2nd Truck feature was won by Steve Miller, over Art Howey Jr. and Jamie Miller.
When the sprints took to the track for qualifying heat races, Bryan Sebetto Chris Andrews, Darin Naida and Cale Thomas won their respective heats. Cap Henry won the 6 car dash and Henry Malcuit won the B Main. The 410 feature had 26 entries. No one could touch Cap Henry who started on the pole. Kasey Jedrzejek settled for 2nd and Darin Naida 3rd. Sacramento CA, Kalib Henry started in 24th and finished 4th.

Saturday night, the 305 winged sprints joined the 410’s as the support class for the final night of the annual Jim Ford Classic. The 305’s skipped heat races, cars were divided into two feature events. John Ivy won the first feature followed by T.J. Michael from Plano TX, who started 12th and rounding out the top 3, Logan Mongeau. The 2nd 305 A Main went to Seth Schneider; Jamie Miller was a close 2nd followed by Chad Wilson. Cap Henry recorded a fast time of 12.467 in 410 qualifying. Heat races were on by Zeth Sabo, Chris Andrews, Kalib Henry and Kasey Jedrzejek. Cale Thomas put his car in victory lane during the 6 car dash. Brandon Spithaler took the checkers in the B Main. The Jim Ford Classic was won by Cap Henry earning $10,000.00, and with the win Friday he took home $15,000.00 for the two nights. Cale Thomas was 2nd, Devon Borden 3rd, Kalib Henry 4th. Kalib Henry won the All Star Circuit of Champions 2025 Series Championship.
Saturday night I was at Oakshade Raceway in Wauseon helping Scott Hammer, announcing races. The Late Models took the night off. The Dominator Stocks competed for $1000.00 to win the Annual Papa Boiler Spectacular. Brad Eitniear became a first time winner of the event, but it was close all 25 laps with several lead changes. Jake Rendel, Craig Dippman, Jarrett Renden and Jeff Foks Jr. were the rest of the top five finishers.
The Sportsman feature had a great three-car battle at the front just about the entire distance of the 20-lap race. Rusty Smith started on the pole and led from the start with outside pole-sitter Roman Brown in pursuit. Ryan Davis joined the battle moving up from his fifth starting position to third. The three drivers ran pretty much nose to tail until the final few laps when they caught the tail end of the field. That is when things got a bit more exciting. Brown took a shot at the outside of Smith which opened the door for Davis to move into second on the inside. Davis then drove hard into turn three on the final lap to get to the inside of Smith, but Smith was able to hang on for the win with Davis a very close second. Brown finished third followed by Josh Robertson and Mike Jessen.
Port Clinton, Ohio’s Tim Streight made it two feature wins in a row in the Compact A Main after leading from flag to flag in an eventful race. Ken Wells was able to close in to the back bumper of Streight once the leaders had to start dealing with lapped traffic late in the race. Unfortunately for Wells, the caution flag flew with just two laps to go giving Streight clear track ahead for the final two laps.
Until next week, Ron Out!
