Driving on the north side of Paulding you may have noticed a large construction project happening at Stykemain Chevrolet. The new construction is attached to their already newer facility that they built several years ago. The building is host to their massively upgraded Stykemain Body Shop!

Stykemain Chevrolet is the largest vehicle dealership in Paulding County. Last year they made over $20 million on 1100 vehicles.

In 2019 they have expanded to include a new $800,000 body repair section covering nearly 9000 square foot under one roof. This will include large and small cars, small trucks to semi-trucks. Stykemain can handle it all!

The new expansion will enable Stykemain to be able to match colors much better as they have transitioned to a PPG Waterborn paint instead of the solvent paints used in years past. This is exactly the same paints that are used from the factory, ensuring a perfect match and longterm durability. The new paint is considered to be more environmentally friendly since it is a water based paint.

New training has been required for employees in recent years due to vehicles now having many more sensors than they did even 10 years ago. The amount of paint over top of the sensors has a very tight tolerance, as too much or too little will cause incorrect readings from the sensors. Many vehicles made today have the ability to take over certain functions of driving due to their number of sensors communicating with the onboard computer.

Even though construction is not finished, the new building is being used in the areas that are done. Jim Stykemain stated they plan on moving the call center to the new building with a dedicated room. The call center will enable a more efficient response to customer questions and scheduling.

There were a couple of reasons Jim decided to add on to the facility. The first was to support the new line of the Medium Duty trucks being manufactured by GM. The 4500, 5500, and the 6500 HD Truck line is now out and Stykemain is only one of 480 national dealers to have been selected for the line. In order to support the new series, they had to add on and build support. The new trucks can handle up to 22,500 lbs gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR). The other reason was they were just running out of space for supporting the increase in recent sales of both new and used cars.

Stykemain will be able to handle three times the number of vehicles as before with the increased space, hiring 5 new full time employees, and two paint booths!

Along with the extra support of the body shop building, Stykemain will be adding a rental car franchise this year!

Stykemain can be reached at (419)399-2071 for any support you may need for your vehicles. Stop in and have a look at their new facility!
