What’s Happening at your Library in August!

The Paulding County Carnegie Library is open Monday to Thursday 10-7, Friday 10-5 and Saturday 10-1. For any information, please call 419-399-2032. Check out the website at www.mypccl.org, we have databases of useful information. Ancestry.com is free to use at the library. Be sure to click on the calendar for upcoming events at all the branches. The meeting room is available for use by calling the library to reserve it today. 

The Adult Services has resumed their Cookbook club, they will meet the third Monday of each month at 5:30 pm. Bring a prepared dish with a printed recipe. Sewing machine projects will be available starting August 12. There will be sewing machines set up and all materials provided for several projects. Beginners to experienced welcome to attend. Coming soon a Cricut machine will be available for in-library use. Come learn with us or if you are experienced, please come and share your tips and skills with us. A KIC mini scanner has been installed, which revolutionizes the way books, newspapers, delicate oversized documents and 3-D objects are digitized. It can be used for scanning, copying and editing copied materials. We are just learning everything this machine does, come on in and check it out. The KIC machine will be very useful for genealogy projects and historical documents. The library is compiling a history book about the 2020 Covid epidemic. Watch for more information about the COVID Chronicles.  The Adult Summer Reading Program has been extended to August 6th. Return your reading log by then. The Adult Services Department is pleased to announce local author Sue Paulus will be at the library on August 5 at 6:00 PM with her book.  Follow us on Facebook for more information. 

The Children’s Room is busy planning Preschool Storytime on Wednesdays, August 11 and 25; 10:00 AM. Call to register anytime.   Every time you check out a book in August you will be entered into a “Back to School” drawing for prizes.  Before you go on vacation pick up some playaways, playviews, books, books on cd and movies. 

The Antwerp Branch will continue Storytime on Wednesdays at 11:00. Crafts every Friday during Library hours.  Book Club is August 9 at 6:00 PM and Cookbook Club is August 16th at 6:00 PM. 

The Grover Hill Branch end of Summer Reading Program party to announce the top readers of each age group will be Wednesday, August 4. The party will run all day during library hours. Munchin Club story times are Monday August 9th and 23rd, at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. Stop by every Friday for the red freewill book cart and pick up a make and take craft. Check out the new electronic sign in front of the library due to the generosity of donors and the Grover Hill Branch Friends of the Library. 

The Oakwood Branch is “Goin Buggy” this month. Every Tuesday is craft time at 11:00. Storytime is every Wednesday at 11:00.  Adult coloring takes place on Tuesday August 11 at 10:00 am. Thursday, August 12 at 11:30 am is Adult Bingo, and Thursday, August 19 at 5:30 is Adult Cookbook Club. The library is also celebrating National Root Beer Float Day on Friday, August 6, stop by and have one on them.

The Payne Branch will continue Storytime on Tuesdays at 11:00. The PBL is pleased to announce Stan Pratt Wood Carver on August 5th at 1:00. Stop by for a free demonstration. All ages are welcome to attend. 

Friends of the Paulding County Carnegie Library will NOT meet in August. Enjoy your summer. Buy the Book used bookstore, located in the Annex, would like to thank everyone who donated books this summer. The shelves are loaded with new Children’s, YA, Mysteries, Romances and even some nice Encyclopedia sets. Black Swamp Bookworms will meet on Monday, August 9th at 6:30 pm in the Annex. We are reading “American Dirt” by Jeanine Cummins. Pick up your copy today and join them.
