Van Wert Civic Theatre announces their next production, Leaving Iowa by Tim Clue and Spike Curtain time is 8:00 p.m. on March 5, 6, 7, and 12, 13, 14 with Sunday matinees at 2:00 p.m. on March 8 and 15. Director Doug Grooms and his cast promise an evening of laughter and smiles and a few tugs at the heartstrings. Leaving Iowa is a show about the classic family vacation in a car.  Don Browning, played by Trent Gossett, is on a journey to take his father’s ashes to his childhood home. The journey takes an unexpected detour, and Don begins to reminisce about family road trips of the past. During the flashbacks of Don’s memories, we see Dad (Ed Eichler), Mom (Lisa Eichler), and Sis (Shiloh Wittwer) in the car with Don as they travel along through vacations of the past. On each of the stops, the memories are reenacted with the help of Dolores Foreman, Daniel Sanderson, and Courtney Wendel who play various characters throughout the show. While this family’s car trip banter is unique, audience members who have ever taken a family road trip will recognize their own family.
