Lions, Warriors Split Doubleheader

WOODBURN – In a doubleheader between a pair of East Allen County Schools, Woodlan and Leo split a pair of high school baseball games on Saturday as the Warriors won the opener and the Lions took the nightcap.

In game two, Leo scored four times in the eighth to post a 12-9 victory over the Warriors.

With the game tied at 8-8 entering extra innings, the Lions plated four runs in the visitors portion to grab a 12-8 advantage. Woodlan did get one back in the bottom of the inning but Leo closed out the 12-9 victory.

Connor Sowers had three hits for Woodlan with Trevor Wallace, Nolan Brooks, Blake Bontrager and Tanner Bair adding two each. Connor Knoblauch and Seb Speith also had a hit apiece for the Warriors.

Leo was led by Devin Barksdale and Christian Brubaker with three hits each while Ryan Hackworth, Nick Tucker and Greyson LaRocque had two apiece.

Chase Chaney, Chance McMaken and Michael O’Brien all had one hit as well.

Brubaker pitched three innings in relief to get the win for Leo, giving up one hit and one run with two strikeouts.

A.J. Restivo tossed five frames for the Lady Lions, allowing a dozen hits and eight runs (seven earned) while striking out three.

Woodlan took control of the opener early on, scoring four times in the first and never looking back in cruising to a 9-3 victory.

Nolan Brooks and Blake Fuller had three hits each for the Warriors while Konnor Norman and Conner Knoblauch added a pair of hits apiece. Blake Bontrager also had a hit for Woodlan.

Greyson LaRocque, Chance McMaken and Michael O’Brien had the lone hits for Leo.

Tristin Krohn pitched Woodlan to the victory. Krohn tossed 6-2/3 innings allowing three hits, three runs (one earned) and one walk while striking out five.
