Archers pull away from Tigers

ANTWERP – After a scoreless game through three innings, it was all Antwerp over the next three frames as the Archers pulled away for an 11-3 victory over Holgate in Green Meadows Conference baseball action.

The blue and white scored six times in the fourth inning to take control of the game before adding three more in the fifth for a 9-0 advantage.

After each team scored twice in the sixth, Holgate wrapped up the scoring with a single run in the top of the seventh.

Gavyn Kupfersmith, Ben Like, Tallon Meyer and Jeradt Nagel had the four Holgate hits.

Cole Seslar, Brett Fulk and Keaton Altimus posted a single and a double each for Antwerp while Jacob Savina recorded a pair of singles.

Luke Krouse chipped in a home run for Antwerp. Jason Geyer, Blake Schuette and Austin Lichty all had singles for the blue and white.

Schuette recorded the victory for the Archers, tossing six innings and allowing three hits, three earned runs and five walks with five strikeouts.

Savina struck out two and allowed a hit in one inning of relief work for Antwerp.

Blake Hattener took the loss for Holgate, pitching 3-1/3 innings while allowing six hits, four earned runs and two walks.
