WAYNE TRACE HOSTS 43rd ANNUAL TRACK INVITATIONAL

Antwerp Freshman Leslie Pollock breaks the Antwerp School Discus Record with a 127’6’ throw at the Wayne Trace Invite on Friday, April 12. The previous record holder was Sarah Wiesehan Noggle in 1995 with 111’0”. Congratulations to Leslie on her achievement and to Sarah for holding the record for 24 years!

HAVILAND – Wayne Trace hosted their 43rd annual track and field invitational last Friday with 12 area schools participating. In the boys meet the Fairview Apaches took top honors with 93 points followed by Edgerton with 82 and in third place was Edon with 70 points. Rounding out the team standings includes – 4. Tinora 58; 5. Wayne Trace; 6. Holgate 49 1/4; 7. Antwerp 43 1/2; 8. Hicksville 40 1/4; 9. Ayersville 32; and 10. Stryker 2.

Representing Paulding County were several athletes from both Wayne Trace and Antwerp who fared well in the meet. In the 200 meter dash Eli Moore (Wayne Trace) finished fourth with a time of 26.05 with Jordan Buerkle (Antwerp) finishing sixth at 27.24.

In the 1600 meter run Jake Ryan (Antwerp) finished fourth with a time of 4:58.9. Austin Reed (Wayne Trace) took sixth place at 5:03.96.

Ryan (Antwerp) had a third place finish in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:18.0 with Trevor Sinn (Wayne Trace) taking sixth with a time of 11:52.30.

Antwerp had two hurdlers finish in the top six in the 110 meter race with Gaige McMichael capturing fourth place with a time of 18.27 and Divyne East crossing the line in 19.22 good for sixth. In the 300 meter hurdles East took fourth with a time of 47.66.

The 4×100 meter relay had the Archers taking fifth place with a time of 48.48 and was made up of Luke Brewer,Tim Taylor, Jordan Buerkle and Divyne East.

The 4×400 meter relay saw the Raiders takie third place with a time of 3:51.50 The foursome included Owen Manz, Richard Dunno, Tyce Homier and Austin Reed.

In the 4×800 meter relay Wayne Trace again took third place with a time of 9:25.07. Joining Homier, Manz and Reed was Jeremiah Molitor. Fifth place went to the Archers with a time of 9:36.05. Participating for Antwerp was Garrett Laney, Landyn Reyes, Kaden Phares and Jake Ryan.

In the high jump competition Cale Crosby (Wayne Trace) finished second with a jump of 5’-6”. Team mate Tyce Homier was third with a jump of 5’-6”. Stephon Walker and Chet Clevinger, from Antwerp finished fifth and sixth with jumps of 5’-0”.

Luke Brewer (Antwerp) took second in the pole vault with a leap of 10’-6”. In third place was Richard Dunno (Wayne Trace) at 9’-6”. Gaige McMichael (Antwerp) grabbed fifth place with a vault of 9’-0”.

Long jump results had Luke Brewer (Antwerp) securing second place with a jump of 17’-3 1/2”.

In the shot put Jagger Landers finished second with a toss of 40’-0”. Noah Hasch (Wayne Trace) took fifth place with a throw of 39’-9”.

The discus throw had Nate Showalter (Wayne Trace) finishing fourth with a distance of 123’-6”.

Edgerton’s Greg Roth was named named most valuable participant in the boys competition. Roth won the 110 and 300 meter hurdles and was a member of the winning 1600 meter relay team and finished second in the 400 relay.

In the girls meet the Tinora Rams captured first place with 81 points followed closely behind in second place was Ayersville with 76 points  followed by third place finisher Fairview with 69 points. Other teams competing included 4. Holgate and Hicksville each with 67 points; 6. Wayne Trace 51; 7. Edon 36; 8. Antwerp 28; 9. Edgerton 21; Lakewood park 19; and Stryker 12.

Rachel Stoller (Wayne Trace) captured first place in the 200 meter dash (28.12) and the 400 meter dash (1:04.12) and second place in the 100 meter dash (13.57).

In the 800 meter run Kassidy Campbell (Wayne Trace took sixth place (2:42.41 with team mate Sadie Sinn just behiond for seventh place (2:52.90). In the 1600 meter run Campbell finished fourth with a time of 5:54.99).

The 300 meter hurdles saw Katrina Stoller (Wayne Trace) finish fourth with a time of 55.73

In the 4×100 meter relay Antwerp took fourth place honors with a time of 56.93. Relay team members were Mia Altimus, Kaitlyn Hamman, Kennadi Recker and Heather Oberlin.

In the 4×200 meter relay Antwerp finished fifth with a time of 2:02.71. The Archer relay team consisted of Mia Altimus, Mady Bauer, Madison Smith and Kennadi Recker.

In the 4×400 meter relay Wayne Trace captured fifth place with a time of 4:28.30. Participating for the Raiders were Kaylee Shepherd, Katrina Stoller, Sadie Sinn, Kassidy Campbell.

The Wayne Trace foursome of Alexa Campbell, Kassidy Campbell, Gracie Laukhuf and Sadie Sinn managed to take third place in the 4×800 meter relay with a time of 11:16.67.

In the field events Hannah Sanderson (Wayne Trace) finished fifth in the pole vault with an effort of 7’-0”, Kiera Reyes (Antwerp) was sixth with a vault of 7’-0”.

Kaitlin Vest (Wayne Trace) took second place in the long jump with a jump of 14’-9 1/2”.

In the shot put first place went to Heather Oberlin from Antwerp with a toss of 35’-0. IN the discus throw first place went to another Lady Archer. Leslie Pollock threw the discus 127’-5”.

Raena Willett from Holgate was victorious in the 1600 and 3200 run as well as the 1600 relay and a second place finish in the 800 run. She was awarded the most valuable participant in the girls competition for her efforts.
