Lady Panthers Nip Bulldogs in NWC Play

PAULDING – The host Lady Panthers of Paulding scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to rally for an 8-7 win over Columbus Grove in Northwest Conference softball action Monday night.

Columbus Grove actually took a 1-0 lead after one inning before Paulding plated two runs in the third for a 2-1 advantage.

After the Bulldogs scored three times in the top of the fourth, the Lady Panthers answered with a pair in the home half of the frame to knot the game at 4-4.

Columbus Grove again went in front in the top of the fifth, the maroon and white scored twice in the bottom of the inning to go in front 6-5.

The visiting Bulldogs then took the lead again in the sixth, scoring two more runs, but Paulding rallied for the win by scoring twice in the home half of the sixth.

Leigha Egnor had two singles for the Lady Panthers with Haylee Dominique posting a single and a double. Asia Arellano also had a double for Paulding while Jalynn Parrett, Jen Stahl, Ashlynn Rice and Morgan Iler picked up a single each.

Arellano also scored twice and drove in two runs while Iler picked up two runs batted in.

Dominique picked up the victory on the mound for Paulding. The Lady Panther hurler tossed the complete game seven innings with seven strikeouts while allowing 11 hits, seven runs (three earned) and one walk.
