Wayne Trace Local Schools celebrating America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education grant

Students in Ms. Kathy Sinn’s science class demonstrate their enthusiasm for using the ClassVR Goggles

Wayne Trace Local Schools has been named a $10,000 grant recipient for the America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education program, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, and will be celebrating with a check-presentation ceremony December 22, 2018 at half-time of the varsity boys’ basketball game at the Wayne Trace High School gymnasium. The district plans to use the grant to implement a Virtual Reality in Science Program at the junior high and high school. Virtual Reality in Science is designed to provide Virtual Reality equipment for students and teachers in grades 7-8-9 at Wayne Trace Junior High/High School. The purpose of the project is to increase student achievement in science and deepening their understanding of science concepts. By implementing this project with two science teachers, this emerging technology can be integrated into classroom activities on a small scale and then be expanded to include other grade levels and subjects. Connections to local and online resources and experts will provide presentations for students and teachers to help them understand the daily applications of science concepts particularly in the local businesses of agriculture, wind-farms and manufacturing.
