New Haven High School News

It’s already October and Christmas is getting closer! We are settled in to another great school year at all New Haven Schools. Thank you to the parents, students and staff. It is often said in education, “it takes all three legs to keep the stool steady.”

Following is my current update on the great things happening, construction-wise, to YOUR schools.

NEW HAVEN HIGH SCHOOL

Construction. The interior renovations continue to move forward with substantial construction in the hallways, media room, classrooms and cafeteria. The updating and construction on many often unnoticed improvements include the plumbing system, electrical system and the heating/cooling system, including air conditioning!

The Original Gym. All the improvements are finished. A new glass area has been added between the upper and lower set of bleachers and painting has been completed. The area looks fantastic and is ready for another exciting Bulldog Basketball season.

The New Fieldhouse. Work continues on the new gyms and work-out area. The opening date is now early 2019. The walls have now closed in the entire project, and interior work is set to begin. The Fieldhouse will yield equivalent space to cover the size of three gym floors. It will include a wooden gym floor as well as other all-purpose flooring to accommodate multiple sports. It will be a great interior area for everyone to use when Indiana weather prevails.

Turf Field. Installation of the turf football field is complete. It is BEAUTIFUL! The field is currently being used by the band, football teams, soccer teams, physical education classes and local pal football teams.

NEW HAVEN MIDDLE SCHOOL

Construction. Work continues on the outside and interior. The construction outside is nearing completion and is almost ready for winter weather. Most windows are installed and the interior will soon become the focus.

NEW HAVEN INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL

Construction. Work continues at an even greater pace. Exterior masonry is a major focus and despite a slow start and even falling behind, we will continue to push forward encouraging an on-time completion.

EACS VOCATIONAL SCHOOL IN NEW HAVEN

Another innovative school is coming to New Haven by transforming Meadowbrook Elementary School (New Haven Intermediate School) building into a vocational career and technical education center. Expected to open in 2020-2021, the new center will start by offering five programs in the trades of Industrial Maintenance, Health Sciences, Advanced Manufacturing, Computer Science, and Pharmacy Technician. These programs will be offered in addition to the ABC Program for Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry, and HVAC Technicians that New Haven currently offers. More class choices will follow soon! These programs were chosen based on student interests and regional workforce developmental needs. “A community is judged by its successes or failures. There are currently a lot of moving pieces and parts in our schools, but what an exciting time!”

Thank you for supporting these projects. See you next month for your monthly update to YOUR New Haven Schools. GO BULLDOGS!!
