ACC holds 2nd annual charity multi gun match

October 13th was a special day for the Antwerp Conservation Club, as they hosted their 2nd annual charity multi gun match. The charity again this year was Toys for Tots of North East Indiana.

A multi gun match is unlike most other matches you will encounter, as competitors use pistol, rifle and shotgun in each stage of the match. You shoot at a variety of targets, including paper targets, steel plates and sporting clays (both stationary and flying over head). The overall match winner is the competitor with the lowest time.

Oh, did I forget to mention you do all of this while running as fast as you can through barricades and obstacles? The average time per stage was 46 seconds, and in that time you fire about 10 rounds from your pistol, 15 rounds from your rifle and 7 rounds from your shotgun. That’s 32 shots (average)  fired per stage,  6 stages of fire, 23 competitors…that’s 4416 shots fired. There were 3 stages being fired at one time.

Even with all this  action going on, the range safety officers found the time to break out their personal 22lr guns, and let a few of the wives try a “mini stage”. A match like this is something you can do with a minimum of equipment, plus most competitors will loan you something you don’t have. These multi gun matches will test you hard, and be fun at the same time.

We appreciate the local community for supporting the Antwerp Conservation Club, the members of the Antwerp Conservation Club for putting together a great program, and most of all the competitors who turned out to support Toys for Tots!
