*UPDATED* State Patrol Investigating Serious Injury Crash in Van Wert County

**UPDATE: The Allen County Indiana Coroner’s office reported that Kwi Cho, age 31, of Dublin, Ohio had succumbed to his injuries and died as a result of the crash at 7:37 A.M., October 15, 2018. The crash remains under investigation and inquiries can be directed to the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Union Township- The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Van Wert Post is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred at approximately 12:23 A.M. on Monday morning, October 15, 2018, on U.S. 30, near milepost 7 in Van Wert County.

A 2003 GMC Sierra, operated by Oscar Garcia Barrios, age 29, of Grover Hill, Ohio, was westbound on U.S. 30 in the eastbound lanes. Mr. Barrios struck an eastbound 2013 BMW 650i which was operated by Kwi Cho, age 31, of Dublin, Ohio. Both vehicles came to rest in the eastbound lanes, resulting in a road closure.

Mr. Cho was trapped within the motor vehicle and required extrication to be freed. Both Cho and Barrios were transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana for serious injuries.

The crash resulted in a closure of the eastbound lanes of US30 during the crash investigation and scene clean up. The roadway has since been reopened.

The Van Wert Post was assisted on scene by Convoy Volunteer Fire Department and EMS personnel, Van Wert Fire and EMS, Van Wert County Sheriffs Office, and Delpha Towing.

The crash remains under investigation.
