Franciscan Center Announces Grand Opening of 2nd FW Family Thrift Store

After a successful soft opening where every day has seen growth, the Franciscan Center announces the official grand opening of its 2nd Fort Wayne Family Thrift Store on Saturday, July 21, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

“Thanks to the support of our Coliseum Boulevard site that we opened five years ago,” explains Tony Ley, Executive Director of the Franciscan Center, “we have opened of our 2nd Fort Wayne location in Southwest Fort Wayne at the corner of Getz Road and Jefferson Boulevard. This addition to our family will continue our efforts of diversifying our funding sources and provide another convenient way for the public to support our programs.” The Franciscan Center provides sack lunches and runs a food pantry and toiletries and personal hygiene cabinet on the Southeast side of Fort Wayne.

We have transformed 12,000 square feet into another popular destination for quality, gently-used clothing, and household goods.” Adds Tony. “Not only does this location have a 24-hour drop off area, but we have plenty of employment, volunteer, and service hour opportunities available. Contact us for an application!”

The Franciscan Center will continue to source all donations for its Family Thrift stores from the local community and keep the proceeds staying in the local community. “Proceeds from the thrift stores are expected to provide over 40-50% of our program costs,” notes Tony.

The community can continue to drop off donations at its flagship store at 925 Coliseum Blvd E. between Parnell and Clinton on Coliseum Boulevard. Both locations will be celebrating the grand opening with special sales and giveaways.
