Panthers fall to Bulldogs, Apaches

DEFIANCE – The Paulding ACME baseball team wrapped up its summer season last week as the Panthers dropped games to Defiance and Fairview in the district tournament.

Defiance scored once in the first and twice in the third before hanging on late for a 3-2 win over the maroon and white.

The following day, Fairview posted an identical 3-2 victory over Paulding to close the Panthers’ season.

In the contest against the Bulldogs, Jaret Miller had a single and triple while Hunter Kauser also added a triple to combine for the three Paulding hits.

Miller and Evan Edwards each drove in runs for the Panthers with Kauser and Miller scoring the Paulding markers.

Kolson Egnor took the loss for the maroon and white, tossing all six innings while allowing three unearned runs, three walks and five hits to go along with three strikeouts.

Against the Apaches, the Panthers struck first with a single run in the second before Fairview tied the game by plating one in the third.

After Paulding went back in front 2-1 in the top of the fifth, the black and gold closed out the scoring with two runs in the home half of the fifth to seal the 3-2 victory.

Jaret Miller paced the Paulding offense with a single and a double while also driving in one run. Hunter Kauser, Carson Shull, Kolson Egnor and Cory Adams all had singles for the Panthers.

Miller struck out three in six of innings work in the contest, taking the loss while giving up three runs (one earned), two hits and three walks.
