INDIANA SCHOOL NUTRITION EMPLOYEES OF THE YEAR RECOGNIZED AT EACS BOARD MEETING

Mrs. Carol Smith was named the Assistant Food Service Director of the Year and Mrs. Jolene Sanderson was named Food Service Manager of the Year by the Indiana School Nutrition Association!

Mrs. Smith has been with EACS for over 27 years. She was key in bringing uniformity to school sites in terms of menus across the various grade levels and all school sites. She researched food products and testing with students/staff, and she promoted signage and site enhancements at each building.

Carol handles the Free/Reduced Lunch Applications and data tracking for the district which involves daily updating and changes and ties into many other aspects of district funding. She served on the District Wellness Council several years until in 2015. Carol works directly Mr. Dan Krleski, Food Service Director. The staff in that department say, “we don’t know anyone who is more dedicated to her employer, her profession, her co-workers and her friends than Carol Smith. She is truly “priceless”.

Mrs. Sanderson has been with EACS for 19 years! She is very caring when it comes to the kids. She has compassion, she talks to them like they’re her own children, making sure they are able to find something to eat…even if it is just a little “something” to put in their bellies!

She excites the children about fruits & vegetables: increased the variety of fresh fruits & veggies offered. She uses an “edible ink” pen and makes smiley faces on oranges, and writes uplifting words on bananas.

Students & staff enjoy the FUN she brings to each day.

Mrs. Sanderson models friendliness and patience and expects the same from her staff at Cedarville Elementary. She puts kids first every day, and greets them with a smile. She strives to make sure each child feels like school is an extension of his/her home. It’s obvious to all that she is passionate about her job!

CONGRATULATIONS CAROL SMITH AND JOLENE SANDERSON!
