Woodlan 6th graders Research cats & dogs

Sixth Grade students at Woodlan Elementary were visited by Officer Rhymer and his K-9 Justice to share information about having a dog as a working companion and pet. Dr. Rex Miller and his cat, Winston, shared information about having a cat at work and as a pet. Students then had to research and find which animal makes the best pet. Shout out to Officer Rhymer, Dr. Miller, Winston and Justice for all their information. We enjoyed having Justice and Winston visit.

After writing the essay, students invented a product to help solve one of the issues for the animal they did not choose as the best pet. Dr. John Colter DVM was the judge. Students had to figure cost, materials and safety of the product.  Congratulations to the winning team: Lauren Snyder, Brittney Moehring, Gabi Koos, Thomas Schmucker and Nick Piedra. The winning project was called the “Lazy Go Crazy” to help overweight cats stay active.

Much appreciation to Dr. Colter from Woodburn Vet Clinic for serving as our judge.
