State Patrol Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash

American Township – The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Lima Post is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred at approximately 10:30 P.M. on Sunday, May 20, 2018, on Eastown Road in Allen County.

A 2016 Kawasaki ZX-6R, operated by Parker R. Oldenettel, age 21, of South Jacksonville, Illinois, was southbound on Eastown Road. While overtaking traffic, Mr. Oldenettel lost control of his motorcycle, striking a curb, and a mail box. Mr. Oldenettel continued across a yard where the motorcycle struck a fire hydrant. Mr. Oldenettel was thrown from the motorcycle and came to final rest a short distance later.
Mr. Oldenettel succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Allen County Assistant Coroner Jamie Sizemore.

The crash resulted in a closure of Eastown Road, between Neely Road, and Hartzler Road. The roadway has since been reopened.

The Lima Post was assisted by American Township Fire and EMS, Army’s Towing and Recovery, and local REACT members.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
