TimeSpaceShadow installation and exhibition by Heather Parrish opens this month

TimeSpaceShadow, a solo exhibition by artist Heather Parrish, will open on Friday, May 18th, 2018 at Artlink Contemporary Gallery. TimeSpaceShadow will feature a large, immersive installation and built environment. Through her installation work, Parrish evokes a heightened sensitivity to ‘self and surrounding’. She explores boundaries as fluid composites of interior and exterior fluctuations, layers of intertwined materiality and perception, rationality, memory and emotion.

Parrish creates work in a variety of artistic mediums from printmaking, artist books, built environments and video project to investigate our complex experience as inhabitants, embodied, housed, navigating the flow of ever-changing relative relationships. Parrish has exhibited at Artlink previously, most recently in the annual Regional Exhibition in January 2018.

The opening reception will also open Cinema Center’s annual Remake fundraiser with works by local artists and a solo exhibition by Amanda Lilleston titled Anatomica liminalis.

About Heather Parrish

Heather Parrish received an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Notre Dame, and BA in Kinesiology from the University of Texas at Austin. Her work is concerned with the complex experience of embodiment and the interconnectedness of inhabitant and environment. Through video projection, installation, printmaking, experimental photography and animations, she explores the porous boundaries between interior and exterior, rational and emotional, and past and present. The materials she uses reference veils, skin, layers, and screens, all of which evoke access and containment.

Parrish has exhibited work, given lectures, and taught workshops in the United States and abroad. She worked as a professional printmaker at Flatbed Press in Austin, Texas, and was a mentor at The Contemporary Austin Museum. She is currently a Visiting Professor of Printmaking at University of Notre Dame, Indiana. She will be taking a position as Assistant Professor of Printmaking at University of Iowa, Iowa City, in the Fall of 2018. Her work can be viewed online at heatherparrish.net.
