STUFF THE TRUCK FOOD DRIVE

After the beginning of the year, food and monetary donations seem to slow down for food pantries. With Easter and summer coming around soon, there will be much need to restock Paulding County’s local pantry for help those who need it most.

Integrity Ford, MY102.7, Chief Supermarkets, United Way of Paulding, West Bend News and Paulding Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to sponsor the “Stuff The Truck” food drive going on March 19th through April 6th, 2018, that will benefit Caring and Sharing Food Pantry. There will be a shopping cart located inside Chief Supermarket (Paulding location) and Integrity Ford for all food donations. Monetary donations can be sent to United Way of Paulding County (with Stuff The Truck on the memo line) at 101 E. Perry St., Paulding, Ohio 45879 and Chief Supermarket, in Paulding, will also be accepting monetary donations at checkout.

So what kind of need really exists in Paulding County? Linda Wilhelm, director at Caring and Sharing Food pantry says, “On a regular month we help feed 125 – 150 families (around 350 – 400 people) in Paulding County. We offer them at least a 3 day supply of food every 30 days and this is to help them stretch their food stamps. Donations seem to slow down after the first of the year. Now we are preparing for what our clients might need for Easter and for the summer months when their children are out of school and they will need to fix them a nutritious lunch. We try to have fruit, veggies, meat, potatoes, milk (shelf stable), cereal, juice, pasta, baking items, bread, hygiene and laundry items every month for each family.”

And does your donation matter? It absolutely does! Even the smallest donation matters. A simple can of soup or veggies or even a dollar added at the checkout can add up over the three week course this food drive will be running. Many families are lifted up and appreciate your support.

For more information, please check MY102.7’s Facebook page and share the details about the food drive. Joe Barker, station manager for MY102.7 says, ““We are thrilled to be participating in this effort. Promoting these kinds of projects is exactly why MY102.7 was created.”
