Antwerp Conservation Clubs Celebrates Independence Day

On July 1st, the ACC held a picnic and 4th of July Celebration. The evening started with a great meal. Club members prepared hamburgers and hot dogs. Those attending were asked to bring a dish to share and their lawn chairs. It didn’t take long for a wall of tables to be filled with a wide variety dishes and desserts. Attendees lined up to fill their plates and find a table to gather with family and friends. After the meal people, moved outside to enjoy a mild summer evening.

Kids enjoyed running around the ranges and climbing the mounds. Some of the kids had toys that launched what looked like a helicopter into the air. One would launch the toy as the other one would try and catch it. A set of corn hole boards were set up and matches ensued. All ages took up the challenge.

As the evening rolled on a DJ was entertaining everyone with a variety of music. The winning tickets were drawn for the gun raffle and 50/50 drawing. The winner of the Henry 45-70 lever action rifle was Donald Mozena from Ashley Indiana. The winner of the 50/50 was Dave Pendegrast from Antwerp Ohio. When the sky got dark enough, the celebration began. The DJ started playing The Star Spangled Banner as the first barrage rocketed into the sky. The Independence Day celebration was 45 minutes long with a rainbow of colors and effects being displayed in the night’s sky. I what was a great night and we hope to see you there next year. Thank you to all the military personnel that keep this country safe and give us the freedoms that we enjoy.
