JASON LANDERS ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR PAULDING COUNTY SHERIFF

 

Jason K. Landers has filed his petition, and is a candidate for the office of Paulding County Sheriff. Landers is a lifelong resident of Paulding County. He is a 1994 graduate of Paulding High School, and was a member of the basketball team. After high school, Landers attended Edison State College where he studied Law Enforcement, and was a member of the Edison Charger basketball team.

After college, Landers worked for a local construction company while attending the Paulding Basic Police Academy. He was commissioned as a police officer in Paulding in 1996, and began working as a Corrections Officer in the county jail in 1997. Also in 1997, Landers began his career as a road deputy for the sheriff’s office. In 2006, Landers was promoted to his current position as Road Patrol Captain, in charge of road patrol operations. In 2008, Landers graduated from the Police Executive Leadership College of Ohio. Landers has attended an extensive amount of continuing education in the past fifteen years while employed with the sheriff’s office.

Being involved in Paulding County is important to Landers. He is currently the Zoning Inspector in Carryall Township, a member of the Kiwanis Club of Paulding serving this term as Vice President of the Board of Directors, and a Board Member on the Antwerp Ball Association. Landers is the Democratic Central Committeeman for Carryall Township, and sits on the Steering Committee for the Paulding Chamber of Commerce Leadership in Action class. He has coached sports at Antwerp Local Schools, and is a substitute bus driver there. Landers’ memberships include; Paulding VFW Post #587, Paulding Eagles #2405, Buckeye State Sheriff’s Association, Police Executive Leadership College Alumni Association and St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Landers is married to Jayme Hughes and has two sons, Jayvin and Jagger who attend Antwerp Local Schools. He is a Harley Davidson enthusiast, and enjoys coaching basketball and working outside.

Landers says, “Communication is key to success for a public official. I have worked with officials from urban areas throughout the years, and each time I am thrilled to return to my roots in Paulding County. My wife and I are grateful to work right here and raise our kids in this safe community. I would be honored to serve as your sheriff here in Paulding County.”

JERRY ZIELKE ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR PAULDING COUNTY COMMISSIONER

 

Jerry L. Zielke has petitioned and is now a candidate to acquire the Paulding County Commissioner seat currently held by Tony Burkley.

Jerry was born in Paulding and is a 1971 graduate of Antwerp Local School. He earned a degree from International Business College and an Ohio Insurance Licensing education from Hondrous College. He also took classes from Northwest Community College in Management-Web Site Development.

Jerry is currently employed at Central States Enterprises LLC in Montpelier, IN as a grain merchandiser/Truck Transportation Coordinator. He has also worked as a insurance field agent, financial advisor and member services representative for Knights of Columbus; was a regional seed Co. sales rep./Agronomy rep. serving OH, IN and MI; and owner/general operator of Zielke Farm Service – Diversified Grain & Fertilizer business.

Other offices that Mr. Zielke has held include board member (president and VP included) of Western Buckeye Educational Service Center (currently serving as Legislative Liaison; board member of Vantage Career Center; board member and legislative liaison of the Ohio Agribusiness Association; member of the Advisory committee of the Ohio State University Northwest Ohio Regional Advisory Committee; former 4-H Advisor and Junior Leadership Advisor; and very active in the Fort to Port US 24 highway project planning committee.

Jerry Zielke is a member of the following groups and/or organizations: Divine Mercy Catholic Parish; Knights of Columbus; Paulding County Farm Bureau; Ohio Agriculture Coalition Committee; National Rifle Association; Antwerp Conservation Club; Paulding County 912 Patriot group; and the Antwerp ACDC group.

Jerry is seeking the commissioner seat because he wants to provide leadership and fiscal responsibility to the citizens of Paulding County. His top three goals if elected will be: To control county spending and make county government more efficient through shared services programs; To look at ways to expand and increase the number of small and medium size businesses in Paulding County to improve employment opportunities for Paulding County citizens; To work closely with State and Federal representatives to stop over regulations and government rules on businesses and local communities.

HARVEY HYMAN ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR PAULDING COUNTY PROSECUTOR

 

Harvey Hyman is announcing his candidacy for Paulding County Prosecutor. He was born and raised in Paulding County Ohio, and graduated from Paulding High School. He graduated from Hillsdale College with a degree in Political Science, and then graduated from the University of Toledo School of Law with his Juris Doctorate.

After graduating from college and earning his license to practice law, Harvey returned to his home county, where he works with his father in their firm, Hyman and Hyman, Ltd. Last summer, Harvey married Caci Craig, daughter of Robert and Gloria Craig, and they reside in Paulding.

Harvey has a broad range of experiences, from a summer job installing drainage tile on Paulding County farms, to an internship with United States Congressman Robert Latta. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Paulding Chamber of Commerce, is the Paulding County Bar Association President, and regularly attends church with his wife at the Paulding Emmanuel Baptist Church. He looks forward to continuing his community involvement and raising a family in Paulding County.

“I will be a fair, focused, and full-time Prosecutor for the people of Paulding County. I want to help make Paulding County a safe place to raise a family. I have always felt that, no matter where school or travel took me, Paulding County is my home. My grandfather was Paulding County Prosecutor and served as Judge of two Paulding County Courts. My father was an Assistant Prosecutor and is an accomplished attorney and Judicial Candidate. I intend to continue that heritage. I have successfully handled well over 100 criminal cases, dealing with everything from speeding tickets to felonies. Instead of protecting the people of Paulding County one at a time as I have as a defense attorney, I want to protect the all the people of Paulding County every day as your County Prosecutor.”

 

ANTWERP LOCAL SCHOOL TO HOLD KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION

 

Antwerp Elementary is now scheduling appointments for its Kindergarten Registration and Screening which will be held on March 29 and 30. Antwerp now offers all-day, every-day kindergarten. If your child will be five years old before August 1, 2012, please call the elementary office at 419-258-5421, ext. 2200, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to schedule your appointment.
