Entertainment For All Ages at Day in the Park

Antwerp Chamber of Commerce Day in the Park is quickly approaching. It’s set for Saturday, August 14, 2021. This year there will be much excitement and entertainment for all ages. Both musical talents of Water 2 Wine as well as the a petting zoo from Scheumann Farms.

At the main pavilion, the talented Water 2 Wine musical group will be performing covers of the popular songs from the past few decades. Water 2 Wine is the acoustic duo of Jason Vandemark and McKenna Weatherhead with back up players David Busing and Bob Weatherhead from Hicksville, OH.

Outside of musical entertainment, set up on the park grounds will be the mobile petting farm from Scheumann Farm from Hoagland, IN. Their farm includes a mini horse or mini donkey, calf, goats, sheep, (mini pigs or alpaca), bunny, and chicken. As well as a 18 foot tall inflatable slide for the kiddos.

About the Scheumann’s from their website:

Scheumann Farm was founded in 2012 by Connor Scheumann in Hoagland, IN. Connor was a Junior at Heritage High School and involved in 4H and FFA. These organizations aided in his personal and professional growth and helped him discover that people are getting further and further away from agriculture. After participating in an event where the Heritage FFA brought farm animals to Park Hill Learning Center, Connor realized the joy that these animals brought to the children in attendance.

Later that summer Connor contacted the Hoagland Days Merchants tent and proposed an idea where he would bring his animals to the festival, sell feed and set up a donation box. After obtaining the approval of the festival, Connor went to work grabbing hog panels, t-posts, snow fences, and anything else he could find around the farm. Connor setup the pens, washed his 4H animals, and headed for Hoagland Days! It turned out to be a huge hit and Connor was contacted by 2 other festivals to be at their events as well.

After high School Connor went on to attend Purdue University where he obtained a Bachelor of Agriculture Business and a minor in Communications. While attending Purdue, he continued to grow his petting farm by offering his services to schools, birthday parties, block parties, and other private events. The services offered also expanded to include pony rides, a farm-themed inflatable bounce house, and slide and a couple commercial grade pole tents.

Connor continues to work with animals off the farm through his career with Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control.

Connor is very proud of what he has accomplished with his petting farm and what his hard work has been able to produce. He strives to continue to grow the farm, offer more agriculture education opportunities, and be able to show the public a taste of a small family farm.
