Virtual Reality Meets Live Music in String Shift’s A3rD concert collaboration

Artlink Contemporary Gallery and String Shift are pleased to present A3rD, an immersive concert experience visual art and music. Alongside the magic of virtual art, A3rD will perform live string arrangements of songs by Radiohead, Ruth Crawford and Game of Thrones composer Ramin Djawadi.

For this unique concert, artist Theoplis Smith III – in collaboration with Artlink and String Shift – has created a series of immersive virtual paintings using Google’s Tilt Brush. During the performance, these pieces will be projected throughout the performance space transporting audience members inside the art. The end result will be an immersive concert experience.

A3rD will take place Friday, February 9 at 8 p.m. at PUNCH Films (200 6th St, Fort Wayne, IN 46808). Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online at buytickets.at/stringshift.

About Theoplis Smith III

Theoplis Smith III, also known as “Phresh Laundry,” is a primarily self-taught artist whose work comes from an innate need and desire to create. Smith’s practice is incredibly unique both for its skill and its unlikely beginnings. As a young child, he found himself drawn toward the arts, and has slowly but surely pieced together an original form of painting with certain connections to popular culture forms of representation like comic books, and the quick sketches of caricature, paired with the long history of traditional portraiture.

About String Shift

String Shift creates a different take on the concert experience by merging the worlds of classical and pop music and performing in more unique venues.
