The Wayne Trace boys basketball team has been notorious for winning games and going far in the tournament. This season has proven itself no different for the Paulding County team. On January 30, the Raiders travelled to Continental to face the Pirates in a basketball game. Unlike the Raiders, the Pirates have not had a very generous season thus far, but that doesn’t mean it can’t change.

Right away, the Wayne Trace Raiders wasted no time and took the lead. They put up 22 points in the first quarter. The Pirates trailed behind the Raiders, but couldn’t quite keep up, only scoring 11. During the second quarter, the Wayne Trace team slowed down and only put up 13 points. Continental took the opportunity to catch up, but only managed to add 8 to the board. At the half, the score was 35-19, with the Raiders holding a comfortable lead.

After the break, the Raiders seemed to have lost most of their steam, while the Pirates were more rejuvenated than ever before. The Pirates added 15 points to the score, while the Raiders only added 11. However, the fourth quarter saw the Wayne Trace Raiders return to their normal playing style, adding 19 to the score, and only allowing Continental to score 9. The final score of the game was 65-43, with the Wayne Trace Raiders taking home a victory.

Score by quarter:

WT – 22 13 11 19 = 65
