Braves cruise past Warriors

WOODBURN – Visiting Blackhawk Christian scored 20 or more points in the first 3 quarters and the Braves rolled to an 87-49 win over host Woodlan Saturday night in non-league boys basketball action outside of Woodburn.

The Braves jumped out to a 20-13 lead after 1 quarter and never looked back in rolling to the victory.

Blackhawk Christian posted a 45-27 advantage at the intermission before expanding the margin to 71-44 at the end of 3 quarters.

The fourth quarter saw Blackhawk Christian score 16 points compared to the Warriors’ 5 points.

Sophomore guard Aiden Bayman paced the Warriors with a dozen points while senior Matthew Elias chipped in 9 markers.

Other scorers for Woodlan included Ah’lan Howard (8), Aaron Hahn (6), Trevor Wiedenhoeft (5), Mitch Mendenhall (4), Micah Robbins (3) and Ben Reidy (2).

Hahn led the Warriors on the boards with 8 while Elias picked up 4 rebounds. Wiedenhoeft dished off 4 assists to lead Woodlan followed by Bayman and Hahn with 3 each. Bayman also picked up a pair of steals.
