Panthers Lay Down the Law in Court

The Panthers opened up their boys basketball season with the first game on Friday, December 1 taking place at home against Continental. This night opened strong for the home team. These boys were fast and hit the target from the beginning after Ethan Rhonehouse tipped the ball to his players. Five 3-point baskets laid the groundwork for an excellent night on the Panther side of the court.

For the night there were 10 3-point baskets with Fletcher Cook leading the charge with 4. Fletcher is a junior at Paulding and he had a great night with the top points at 21.

The first period had 22 points for the Panther side while the Pirates were tossed back and forth with only 5 points.

The game went back to more normal when Paulding was held back from scoring as much as the first period. The boys tacked on 15 to their score when Ethan Rhonehouse added 7 and Cook added 6. Continental pulled up their score to 13 points in the next quarter. The half ended at 37 – 18.

The second half started and Jaret Miller hit a 3 point basket and a 2 – point field goal. Cook was back on the board with 5 additional points.

Paulding has a full roster of senior and juniors and showed they are a solid team.

By the time the fourth quarter had come around Paulding had a significant at 51-27. Paulding allowed the Pirates to post a few points in the there with Caleb Olds hitting 9 points.

Both teams hit about 50% on the free line but Paulding certainly had more fouls against them.

The game finished at 59-41 and Paulding posted their first win of the 2017-18 season.

Paulding will travel to Defiance on December 8th.
