My Three Angels at the Huber

It’s Christmastime, and the livin’ is easy, unless you are convicts recently escaped from Devil’s Island. Their plan to finance a quick trip out of South America means freedom by Christmas Day-if they can relieve a shop owner of his goods. Things go smoothly at first for “My Three Angels” as they take a roofing job above the shop to avoid the law.

Complications soon arise. A scatterbrain is swindling shop keeper, Felix.  Daughter Marie Louise has not heard from her fiancé Paul in a year. Wife Emilie has her suspicions. Cousin Trochard is threatening foreclosure. Furthermore, there ‘s a snake on the loose!

Jules, Joseph, and Alfred, convicts with heart, resolve to fix the situation in 24 hours as only they can. This warm hearted Christmas offering serves up a bowlful of chuckles with a side of keen observations just in time for the holidays.

Humphrey Bogart starred in the 1956 film adaptation of this play. Our cast includes Andy Gross as slick forger and embezzler Joseph, Joel Dunham as the jilted gentlemanly Jules, and Keith Robinson as the love struck Alfred. Hope Owens as Emilie maintains orders as best she can. Naïve and innocent Marie Louise is performed by Britlee McFarland and Jason William’s Felix makes a powerful case for the kind hearted. Hal Osmun brings the right note of treachery to Monsieur Trochard, with Connor Baumle the picture of youthful arrogance. Rounding out the cast are Mary Smith whose Madam Parole meets her match, Cord Ehrhart as the lieutenant who meets his match much differently, and Adolph who defies description. This play, produced by Pam Diehl, is under the direction of David Snyder working for the Opera Lane Performers of the Huber Opera House.
