Lady Warriors Start Strong

In a battle of Allen County rival schools, it was host Woodlan who picked up a non-league girls basketball victory recently as the Warriors defeated the Bulldogs 53-29.

The two squads were tied at 7-7 after one quarter before Woodlan took control in the second quarter by outscoring the Bulldogs 21-6 to grab a 28-13 halftime advantage.

The Lady Warriors extended the lead to 40-21 at the end of three periods before cruising to the victory.

Addison Bayman led the way for Woodlan with 27 points while Gabby Joyce added 9 and Madi Koos chipped in 8.

Taya Kitzmiller aided the Warrior cause with 4 followed by Hanna Albertson with 3 and Lexia Holmes with 2.

Hudson topped New Haven with 14 points and Lee posted 6 points.

Weekly chipped in 3 for the Lady Bulldogs while Raeshawn Norfleet, Carney and Williams all added 2 points.

The Lady Warriors also picked up a non-league victory over Hamilton as Woodlan cruised to a 46-13 victory over the Marines.

Woodlan blanked Hamilton 10-0 in the first quarter and outscored the Marines 10-4 in the second quarter for a 20-4 halftime advantage.

The Warriors outpointed Hamilton 19-6 in the third quarter to extend the margin to 39-10 at the end of three periods.

Bayman topped the Woodlan roster with 19 points while Holmes chipped in 8. Other scorers for the Lady Warriors were Albertson (4), Kitzmiller (4), Lauren Meyer (4), Joyce (3), K.C. McGettigan (2) and Ella Smith (2).

Tori Creager had 7 points for Hamilton with Jill Ice adding 3. Brea Steury and Kaitlyn Stoy chipped in 2 points and 1 point, respectively.
