Ayersville’s Chris Barrientos returned the opening kickoff 95 yards for a score and the Pilots led the rest of the way in cruising to a 26-0 win over Antwerp in Green Meadows Conference Homecoming football action Friday night at Archer Field.

Pilot quarterback, Sam McGuire, ran for 295 yards and three touchdowns to aid the Ayersville cause.

McGuire added a 53-yard scamper for a score in the first quarter as Ayersville led 14-0 after one period.

The Ayersville signal-caller then scooted 59-yards for another touchdown in the third quarter to widen the margin to 20-0 at the end of three quarters.

McGuire rounded out the scoring in the final period as he rumbled 23-yards for his third touchdown of the night.

Ayersville’s defense did its part by posting the shutout as the Pilots picked up their first conference win and fourth win out of five tries overall.

Tim Taylor topped the Antwerp offense with 60 rushing yards.

Antwerp will look to rebound as the Archers make the long trip to Holgate to battle the Tigers on Friday. Both teams come into the contest with identical records of 1-4 on the year, with the Tigers beating Waynesfield Goshen (13-7) while the Archers got past Montpelier 32-28.
