The week of July 17-21st, the Paulding County Board of Developmental Disabilities (PCBDD) showed how they are “Always There” for their community by participating in a Week of Service, coordinated by the Ohio Association of County Boards of Developmental Disabilities (OACB). County Boards are celebrating their 50th anniversary and appreciate the strong support from the communities they serve. Because of this support, county boards wanted to give back to the community that supports people with developmental disabilities.

One of the service projects the Paulding County Board of DD participated in was to provide free ice cream cones to the children participating in the Northwest Ohio Community Action Commission’s free Summer Food Service Program at LaFountain Park in Paulding.  Approximately 40 children, ages 1-18 were served ice cream cones on July 20th, by Paulding County Board of DD staff and Board members.

In addition, the Paulding County Board of DD Self Advocacy Group listened to a presentation by OfficeR Caleb Miller and his K-9, Cooper.  Paulding County Board of DD staff and self-advocates collected supplies for the County Dog Pound and the K9 units.  The group collected towels, treats, toys, tennis balls and dog food.  The supplies were then delivered to the Dog Pound.  Officer Fairchild gave a short tour of the facility, brought out some of the dogs and discussed adopting a dog from the pound.
