Harlan Days: Another Great Year!

Woodlan Marching Band serenades the parade watchers.

It was the 70th Annual Harlan Days Fair that began this year. Harlan Days is known for its full crowds at the Parade, giving away t-shirts constantly and, of course, the famous Harlan Days Grilled Chicken.

The main events started on Thursday, August 3 with the Midway Rides starting and the food tent opening. This year the stalwart Rock-O-Plane ride did not make an appearance.

The parade was packed this year with people lining the route from the old elementary school, around to the highway and back again to it’s starting point. Churches, business, emergency crews and other organizations from around the area were there handing out candy, water and literature the entire time. The kids always love the great Harlan Days Parade.

On Sunday, August 6, following the weekend of Harlan Days events, the Harlan High School Class Reunion took place. It’s been many years since the school consolidated with Woodlan and since then Harlan has had reunions that invited all of the living classmates.

The reunion was held at Grant’s in Antwerp, Ohio. It began around 5:00 p.m. with dinner following over the next hour as nearly 120 attended the reunion.
