The Western Buckeye ESC Welcomes New Director, Accepts Member’s Resignation

The Western Buckeye ESC Governing Board held a brief meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2017, in the Van Wert office.

Board members welcomed new Synergy Learning Center director Tony Langhals, who provided the group with an update on the progress of the new alternative school, which opens its doors to students this August.  Preliminary estimates indicate about sixty-seventy students in grades 3-12 will be enrolled to start the school year with expectations for growth to occur.

Board members also accepted the resignation of member P. James Grubaugh, effective July 31, 2017, and thanked Mr. Grubaugh for his many years of dedicated service to the governing board.

In the business portion of the meeting, the board approved the following items:

The retirement resignation of Deb Guinther, paraprofessional, effective July 1, 2017;

An additional 2.5 days for Ashley Shepherd, 21st Century grants coordinator;

A one-year teaching contract for Larry Altenburger for the 2017-2018 school year.

Western Buckeye governing board will meet in regular session on the following two days:

• July 26 at 6:00 in the Paulding office

• August 16 at 6:00 in the Van Wert office
