The Antwerp Rotary Club hosted the bicyclists in the 2017 Rotary Medical Equipment and Supplies Abroad (M.E.S.A.) bike tour, for lunch on Sunday, June 4 at the Antwerp Riverside Park.   M.E.S.A.  is a Rotary District 6600 program that collects and distributes donated medical equipment and supplies to underdeveloped countries that are in need of a variety of items that are not readily available to them or that they do not have the resources to purchase.  The bike tour is held annually to raise awareness and support for donations of various medical items, and for cash donations or pledges that are used for warehousing and shipping.

Dr. Sarah Mowery donated used but still usable dental equipment to M.E.S.A. after her new office in Antwerp was built and operational.  The Paulding County Hospital is currently reviewing items that they are no longer using for donation to M.E.S.A.  Examples of kinds of equipment that have been donated and shipped worldwide include: vehicles, computers, surgical tables, x-ray machines, books, diapers, pacemakers, water filters, dental chairs, ambulances, etc., the list is endless.

Rotary District 6600 consists of 3500 members in 64 clubs in Northern Ohio. (www.rotarydistrict6600.org).  Rotary international consists of 1.2 million individual members in 34,282 member clubs. (www.rotary.org).
