Patrol Investigating Serious Injury Crash

The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Van Wert Post is investigating a two vehicle serious injury crash that occurred Friday evening 3 miles west of the City of Delphos in Van Wert County.

Troopers were dispatched to the crash on Lincoln Highway just east of Converse Roselm Road in Washington Township at 7:54 p.m. Friday evening. A 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Justin R. Wright, age 20, of Van Wert was westbound on Lincoln Highway. As Mr. Wright negotiated a curve he lost control and drove left of center. A 1998 Ford Ranger pickup truck driven by Jennifer L. Harris, age 45, of Middle Point was eastbound on Lincoln Highway when Mr. Wright drove left of center.  Mrs. Harris took evasive action, but was unable to avoid the Silverado.

Mrs. Harris struck the right rear of the Silverado and the impact immediately stopped her vehicle. Mr. Wright continued into a yard and struck a tree ejecting his passenger, Jake M. Stallkamp, age 19, of Delphos.

Mr. Stallkamp was not wearing his seat belt and received serious injuries when he was ejected in the crash.  He was transported by Middle Point EMS to St. Rita’s Medical Center. Mr. Wright was not wearing a seat belt and received minor injuries.  He was treated on scene.  Mrs. Harris was wearing her seat belt and received minor injuries. She was transported by Delphos EMS to Van Wert County Hospital where she was treated and released.

The Van Wert Post was assisted on scene by Middle Point Fire and EMS, Delphos EMS, Knippen’s Towing and Hague’s Towing.

Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation
