“Aces Beat Apaches In Junior ACME”

A Brandt Balser walk off single in the bottom of the eighth gave Hicksville a 9-8 win over visiting Fairview in junior ACME action last Friday night at the home of the Aces.

Each team scored one run in the first inning before the Apaches picked up three runs in the top of the third for a 4-1 advantage.

After Hicksville answered with two runs in the bottom of the third, Fairview responded by plating three more runs in the top of the fourth to grab a 7-3 lead.

However, the Aces weren’t done.

Hicksville got one in the bottom of the fourth before adding four more in the home half of the sixth to post an 8-7 advantage.

Fairview answered with a single run in the top of the seventh to knot the game at 8-8 but the Aces then won it with a run in the bottom of the eight.

Jacob Miller got the win for the Aces, tossing the complete eight innings and striking out ten Apache batters.

Scott Keeran posted three singles and a run batted in while Brandt Balser, Austin Gillespie and Gabe Bland each added a pair of singles. Jacob Miller, Chase Railing and Gary Thatcher all recorded a single as well.

Miller and Balser drove in two runs apiece with Gillespie also picking up a RBI.
