Lady Warriors Win Two Of Three

On the softball diamond, the lady Warriors of Woodlan got off to a good start last week by posting victories in two of three games played. Woodlan opened the year with a 5-0 win over Eastside, scoring one in the second inning before sealing the win with a four-run seventh. Alyson Wiesehan, Madi Koos, Alyson Wiesehan, Yogadinski and Hathaway all had two hits for the Warriors. Emma Baughman picked up the win for the Lady Warriors, giving up three hits and three walks while fanning a dozen. Woodlan followed that up with an 8-7, nine-inning victory over Bishop Dwenger. The two squads were tied at 1-1 in the third, 4-4 after five and 7-7 at the end of 8 innings before Woodlan plated a single run in the bottom of the ninth for the win. Baughman topped the Warrior offense with three hits while Wiesehan also added three hits for Woodlan. On the hill, Baughman struck out 11 Saints hitters to pick up the complete-game victory. Wednesday afternoon, the Warriors struck first against Concordia but the Cadets rallied to close the game with six consecutive runs for a 6-1 win. Woodlan managed only three hits in the contest, getting a single and a triple from Hathaway while Wiesehan added a single.
