State Patrol Investigating Injury Crash On US 24

Emerald Township – The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle injury crash that occurred on US 24 at County Road 133, in Paulding County.

On March 22, 2017, at approximately 12:41 P.M., a 2006 Ford F-250, driven by Stacy Stoller, age 41, of Paulding, Ohio, was eastbound on US 24. A 2014 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Janet Thompson, age 65, of Cecil, Ohio, was southbound on County Road 133. Ms. Thompson cleared the westbound lanes of US 24 and failed to yield to Stollers vehicle, and was struck on the right side.

Ms. Thompson was transported by Samaritan to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne for serious but non-life threatening injuries. Ms. Stoller, and two passengers were treated at the scene.

US 24 eastbound was closed for approximately one hour, and has since been reopened.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation.

The Van Wert Post was assisted by the Defiance Post, Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, Paulding Fire and EMS, Samaritan, Paulding Ohio Department of Transportation, and Gideon’s Towing.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminds motorists to use caution at intersections allowing ample time for vehicles which have the right of way, always buckle up, and never drive distracted or impaired.
