Payne Elementary observe balloon rockets

Mrs. Wilder’s 5h grade science class at Payne Elementary have been investigating what forces affect the motion of a rocket. Students built and observed balloon rockets, using the same instructions and materials. Using the design process and their knowledge of Newton’s Laws of Motion, they then modified their balloon rockets with the objective of increasing the speed. Some students modified their design by adding more force, and some chose to lessen the amount of friction. Finally, they observed their modified design, recorded their data, and shared their findings with the class.
