The Raiders Grab the Win from the Archers

Wayne Trace hosted the Archers on Friday, September 16th, and right when the game was ready to start a strong wind and a down pour happened. Lightning was seen and the game was delayed setting everyone up for a late evening.

When the game finally started everyone was soaked. It was at the beginning of the 2nd quarter when the first touchdown was scored by Antwerp on an interception by Hunter Noel and a 61 yard run with 11:08 left on the clock. The points after by Jacob Savina were good.  This was a high scoring game. The Raiders brought the next two touchdowns on to the field. The first by Caleb Schultz and following that was Trae Sinn on a pass and 85 yard run by Jake Kuhn. Points after were kicked by Haydn Gillett. The half finished at 14 to 7 with the Raiders in the lead.

The second half was continued for both teams as Antwerp’s Keaton Altimus passed to Trey Mills with 73 yards. Following that was two more Raider touchdowns with Seth Saylor driving through the Archer defense to return the kick off. Trae Sinn followed up 8 minutes later with a pass to Caleb Schultz. Gillet added points on each of these. The third finished at 28-21.

By the time that the fourth period finally rolled around, both teams added 14 points. The Raiders Schultz and Saylor both scoring, and on the Archer side, Altimus and Mike Taylor both added points. The final score was 42-34 on this late game.

Wayne Trace: 0 14 14 14 = 42

Antwerp: 0 7 13 14 = 34

Wayne Trace is now 2-2 overall, 1-0 in the Green Meadows Conference. Antwerp falls to 1-3 overall, 0-1 in the GMC.

Next Friday, September 23 Wayne Trace will travel to Fairview and Antwerp will travel to Ayersville.
